Giving Our Children a Voice at Our Montessori Preschool, Ashburn!

The children have a voice and a choice in real time, through pretend play.

We are big into the performing arts here at our Montessori Preschool, Ashburn. Children love to dress up and play pretend! It allows them to explore the world around them, gain their independence, and develop their social standing. Read more on how Drama creates community!

Creating a Safe Place For Your Child!

Creating new characters!
Creating characters is so fun!

Here at Center Stage we don’t just read books, we reenact the stories! The children will jump right into the prop boxes, and put on anything that will help them become the characters in the stories. Those characters give the children a voice and a choice in real time, identifying vocabulary words that they can connect to their emotions. Drama creates a safe place where emotion and excitement can be demonstrated directly and wholeheartedly. A child can practice their expressive language in a constructive environment that then transfers to real life social arenas.  The children can see what it feels like to feel shy, or excited, or maybe a little deviant, or sad!  So through out the year we are going to meet all kinds of characters and play them out in a really fun safe way.

What if My Child is Shy?

It has been seen time and time again where a shy, insecure child comes out of a drama program confident; bravely taking on new tasks and social situations that once frightened them. With each role that is tried out your child can explore their individuality and broaden their limits of understanding. A sense of self and accomplishment is achieved when one contributes to a drama production; while at the same time a feeling of belonging and community awareness.

Doesn’t this sound like a great way for your child to spend part of their day? Letting your your child’s self-esteem soar and watch as they blossom! We think so too! Find out more about our Montessori Preschool, Ashburn by scheduling a tour. Visit our Facebook page for more amazing picture!
